Blurb

He's the hot, grumpy goalie I had a crush on in high school... and now I'm his live-in assistant.

After my ex crushed my dreams in the music industry, I’m done with getting my heart broken. Working as an assistant for an NHL player was supposed to be a breeze, but nothing about Jamie Streicher is easy. He’s an intimidatingly hot, grouchy jerk who can't stand me. The guy has a massive ego. Keeping things professional will be no problem, even when he demands I move in with him.

Beneath his surliness, though, Jamie’s surprisingly sweet and protective.

When Jamie learns how bad my ex was in bed, his competitive nature flares, and he encourages and spoils me in every way. The creative spark I used to feel about songwriting? It’s back, and I’m writing music again. Between wearing his jersey at games, rowdy parties with the team, and being brave on stage again, I’m falling for him.

He could break my heart, but it might be worth it.

My Thoughts:

As soon as Jamie said he couldn't have any responsibilities and immediately adopted a dog from the alley because it looked sad I was all in for this book! Nothing makes me giggly to myself like a very grumpy hero who is totally thrown off by a sunshiny heroine! Poor Jamie was so gone for Pippa and had no idea how to handle it!

Pippa's life got off track because of a bad relationship and she is forced to start over. I adored that Jamie saw Pippa's talent and helped her get her confidence back. Seeing her through Jamie's eyes was so much fun. I loved that he called her songbird.

I also really enjoyed Jamie's arc. He had no one to lean on for so long and I loved watching him learn to befriend his coworkers and learn to learn on Pippa. On a less fun for him note, I loved watching him slowly realize he wasn't going to be able to stay away from Pippa.

If you like sports romance, grumpy sunshine, slow burn or forced proximity you need to read this one! This was my first Stephanie Archer book but it won't be my last! I am obsessed with this series and I can't wait to read more.

🌶️🌶️🌶️ - This one was a slow burn but there were still a handful of open door scenes and a lot of sexual tension.

🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 - I listened to the audiobook version of this title and adored it! Tim Paige Savannah Peachwood did duet narration and they were both great! You may recognize Tim Paige from Icebreaker and Savannah Peachwood from Reckless by Elsie Silver.
