Catching Feelings Review

By Maren Moore

Orleans University Book 2

Star rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Blurb

I accidentally hooked up with the guy I despise. A mistake I’d love to forget…except now he’s my new roommate.

Reese Landry is Orleans University’s arrogant, All-Star catcher.

And I’m the one girl he can’t seem to catch.

If anything, it only makes him want me more.

He’s disgustingly rich, stupidly charming, and everyone loves him.

Except me.

But then life throws me the ultimate curveball: He’s my new temporary roomie.

I thought it was going to be easy, keeping him at a distance.

Turns out, I was wrong.

He’s nothing like the cocky, rich playboy that I thought he was.

I told myself one more time wouldn’t hurt.

We promised to keep things casual, no strings attached.

But soon lines blur, and he somehow becomes my only safe space to land.

My Thoughts:

I liked Homerun Proposal so I expected to like Catching Feeling, but I was excited to find I liked it even more than the first one!

I really thought that Viv and Reese complemented each other so well! Vivian needed someone reliable to be there for her and Reese needed someone to see past his exterior and realize how caring he could be. I loved watching Viv learn to trust him and be more open with the people in her life. I also thought they were both separately such great characters! I loved Viv's interest in the occult and how Reese put up with it even though it freaked him out and Reese's connection with his family so was fun to read about!

I was a little nervous when I realized that Viv's mom's mental health was going to be a big part of the story because I sometimes don't like parental mental health used as a plot device. It can be easy for it to seem like the person with mental health problems is being categorized as a bad parent. In this case, I think Maren Moore did a great job making it clear why Viv's mom was struggling and that while she did need help she was still trying her best.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - This one comes in strong with the spice right away and we actually see more spice in the first half than later on. I do think this one was a bit spicer than the first one, which made sense as Viv had more sexual experience than Hallie.

Thanks to Valentine PR and Maren Moore for the eARC! All opinions are my own.
